OUR CABIN BUILDINGS


We sleep good at night knowing that when you do an honest comparison of our buildings with others, you'll see the many ways that our buildings really are Better Built!
  • We use only #2 Douglas Fir for our framing--the best available.  It's the same lumber that you'd find inside any well-built traditional home or building.
  • We use Malarkey brand composite shingles with a #3 impact rating, the same as you would find on a well-built traditional home.
  • Our 7/16" thick LP siding product is second to none.  It is engineered to provide many years of maintenance-free service.  The tongue-and-groove sheets fit well together, which increases efficiency and decreases moisture penetration.
  • We use a proprietary blend of paint from Benjamin Moore paints--their Gennex coating--which has special adhesion properties, allowing it to to form a superior bond to our building exterior lumber, for a long-lasting, trouble-free finished look.
  • Even our nails are better!  Yep...our nail heads measure .099" vs. others' .09."  That's a 10% larger nail head holding your exterior siding in place.  Plus, the special design of our ring-shank nails "slows down" the nail as it drives in so that the head is less likely to penetrate the panel surface, which could lead to early compromise due to water damage.

OTHERS' CABIN BUILDINGS

Some of the lesser-quality features we've seen used by other builders include (these factors make a huge difference in structural integrity, longevity, and long-term good looks):
  • Use of "SPF" lumber for framing.  SPF is a lower grade of framing lumber than our #2 Douglas Fir.  It tends to warp when exposed to sunlight through a door or window opening, which leads to structural problems later on.
  • Most people don't know, but all commercial lumber is graded on its various physical properties. Softer, lower grade lumber doesn't have the strength and resilience of Doug Fir.  Better Built doesn't cut corners by buying cheap lumber and skimping on necessary framing like most of the other guys do.  We buy the best wood available for the job, and we use plenty of it!
  • How thick is the siding?  3/8" inch is quite commonly used on lower-quality sheds. We use 6.25% thicker siding on all our buildings at no extra charge.
  • There are many grades of shingles available.  Don't buy a building without asking for proof of which shingles were used on the roof.  We Insist on using the best shingles available, even for an outdoor storage shed.
  • Also, we're sure you know that paint isn't just paint...there is a vast difference in paint qualities available from one vendor to another.  The non-discriminating builder will probably use the cheapest that can be found at the time.  We only use the BEST paint for your building!
